2008 CITA'S SECOND ANNUAL

"AMATEUR TANGO SALON CONTEST"

On Sunday May 11 2008, with a success similar to last year's edition, CITA held its second annual Amateur Tango Contest.

A joyful ambience surrounded the event, which coincided with Mother's Day Celebration. More than 150 tangueros/as gathered to see this first round of the "Amateur Tango Salon Competition".

Results were as follows: first place went to couple No. 10, Emma Loustaunov & Len Peters, second to couple No. 9, Carmen Graciotti & Roberto Ingallina and third to couple No. 8, Barbara & Yardel.

The first two couples will go to the seminfinals and the third will have another chance in a second round. Congratulations to all participants!

Another Sunday when the milongueros packed the house at the Italian American Club in Hollywood to celebrate the Argentine Holiday and to experience the final round of the first stage of the second “Amateur Salon Tango Contest.” The following were the results:

Fourth week of the Tango Contest

A special round of CITA’s Amateur Salon Tango Contest 2008 took place last Sunday with anticipated success. The third and fourth place winners of the previous weeks’ rounds participated in a round to qualify for two places in the semifinals. The decision of the judges was very difficult because two couples scored the same amount of points and had to dance another tango in order to help the judges decide who would pass on to the semifinals.

First Round of Semifinals

Once again "The Italian American Club" was filled with Tangueros/as and fans of the participants to enjoy

the second annual "Amateur Tango Salon Contest" that CITA is having with the same great success of last year competition.

It was the begining of the contest semifinals where the couples listed below dance marvelously and the results were as follow:

C.I.T.A. AMATEUR TANGO CONTEST

We are pleased to announce the successful launch of our Amateur Tango Contest. with more than 170 attendees, the "Milonga" on Sunday, April 1st was a ravishing event. The contestants danced marvelously and although the decision was challenging, Adrián Miguenz & Norma (Couple #8) were selected as the first place winners and Roberto Rodriguez &.Marta Galera (Couple # 11) came in at second place, both couples will enter to the semifinals.

With great pleasure, CITA held the second day of the first round of "The Amateur Tango Contest" in the Italian American Club of Hollywood on Sunday, April 15th. Once again, CITA is proud to have had over 170 attendees enjoying yet another night of fun, great food and lots of dancing.

We would like to congratulate all contestants that participated for their excellent performance this past Sunday. These contestants were as follows:

Wow... What a night!!! Triple the pleasure and triple the fun, CITA's Sunday night Milonga held on Sunday, May 13th started off with an special workshop given by Daniel Lapadula. He then left everyone with dropped jaws when he surprised us all with a ravishing performance with Laura Brondo .

Our Milonga was filled with members and friends despite the holiday (Mother's Day) and all the women and moms were glowing with radiance. Happy Mother's Day to those that were unable to attend.

What a wonderful night!!! It began with a few words of welcome and thanks from our President Juan Teramo to almost 200 “Tangueros” and fans, and the very special presence of Graciela y Alberto Michel from the newspaper “El Argentino-Mercosur.”

Commemorating Argentine Revolution Day, May 25, a group of dancers led by Claudio and Daniel (Los Látigos Santiagueños) delighted us with a “Chacarera” and the teachers Roxana Garber y Oscar Caballero, dressed in typical folkloric garb, danced a very expressive and romantic “Zamba.”

AND THEN CAME THE LONG-AWAITED MOMENT!!!

The finals of the first Amateur Tango Contest that CITA so successfully held.

First, four couples danced to determine the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th places with the following results:

5th- #2 Anibal Quinteros & Nubia Vahos

6th- #10 Bernie Cadavid & Connie Rose

7th- #11 Roberto Rodríguez & Marta Galera

8th- #6 Joe Samaha & Sandra Ramos

Then, to determine the first four places the next couples danced with the following results:

1st- #16 Roberto Caroprese & Carmen Botto

2nd- # 1 Osbaldo Dufau & Lucía Minervini

3er- #12 Francisco Rappa & Gloria De Lagarza

4th- # 9 Antonio Espósito & Martha Otis

The decisions at the end of the competition were difficult for the judges because the competency of the participants had progressed, and the finale of the competition was the most difficult test for them. We believe that the decision was just and was confirmed by the applause of the spectators.

Third place was determined by the vote of the “chief judge” Laura Brondo, and there was only a point between the contesters.

All the certificates of participation and the trophies will be presented at the 10th Anniversary Gala Party that CITA will host June 10, 2007.

The Board of Directors wants to especially thank the couples that won the first three places because they donated the cash they were to receive to the Club, which will allow the Club to adopt two more children to the one already adopted through “Children International” in the month of March.

The Board of Directors would like to congratulate all the participants for their excellent performances and also to thank the panel of judges and the public notary.
